"exact": the exact 16-bit PNGs, loaded ahead of the playhead; the
playback gate holds for them. A clip whose exact frames stop loading
falls back to its preview.
"auto" (the default): the exact PNGs while they keep up, the preview
otherwise. Exact depth takes over once its lead reaches three quarters
of what it loads ahead, and hands back when the lead falls under a
quarter or a frame is missing, waiting longer each time before it tries
again. A clip without a preview plays exact depth.
Whichever is drawn is the depth of the frame on screen;
getActiveDepth().precision says which.
